Sept. 21, 1929 — July 21, 2017
Margaret L. Vaughan (Margie) suddenly and unexpectedly passed away at her home, July 21, 2017, after 87 years filled with love and purpose.
Margie was born on September 21, 1929 in Yakima, Washington to Alfred and Hazel Maillard.
She grew up in Philomath where she graduated high school and met James Vaughan (Jimmy) who was stationed at The Corvallis Navy Airbase. She attended Oregon State on a scholarship while dating Jimmy until they were married in 1948. They were married for 59 years until his death in 2008.
Margie was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ken Geno and Chuck Maillard.
Margie helped found The Clothes Tree in 1963. For over 50 years, her hard work and dedication helped make The Clothes Tree an important part of the Corvallis community. Margie was more than an employer; she became sister, mother, grandmother and friend to many wonderful people over the years.
Margie was blessed with a loving family that includes her daughters, Sherry Korn (Rocky) and Mardi Bilsland (Doug); grandchildren Tracy Bain, Tory Korn, Rob Korn, Greg Bilsland, and their spouses; as well as five great-grandchildren. For the last three years, she was also fortunate to have a caring relationship with Jack Scoville and his family. Margie also made many new friends at her new home this year at the Bonaventure in Albany.
To all of us, the world seems a little smaller without Margie. She was a force in the lives of all who knew her through an unwavering sense of right and unconditional love for all. Although we mourn our loss, we cannot mourn a life well-lived.
Join us for a celebration of Margie's life. You are welcome to share your memories of Margie any time between 1 and 4 p.m. on September 23 at the Comfort Inn Suites in Corvallis.
Remembrances in Margie's name can be made to Old Mill School in Corvallis, or a charity of your choice.
Godspeed to you Margie.
