June 15, 1954 — February 12, 2018
Stephen Blaine Cook, of Philomath, died on February 12, 2018, in his home at the age of 63.
He was born on June 15, 1954, in Murphy, North Carolina, to Blaine and Betty (Swaim) Cook.
In 1972, Steve graduated from Oakridge High School and then attended Oregon State University. He married Nancy (Basl) Cook in Stayton, on September 18, 1976.
Throughout his life, Steve had a few different careers. In the '70s, he did survey work in Alaska. He was a lumber mill worker in the early '80s. From the mid-'80s to '90s he was an insurance agent, and from then on he was a financial consultant.
Steve was a member of both the Junction City Moose Lodge and the Corvallis Elks Lodge. His hobbies included cooking for loved ones, being a die-hard OSU Beaver fan, camping and outdoors, and playing Santa at Christmastime.
Steve enjoyed morning coffee with “the guys,” having strong opinions and arguing about the state of things.
He is survived by his parents; wife; sister, Kathy Swigert of Newberg and Sharon Krise of New Bern, North Carolina; brother, Joe Cook of Coos Bay, son Anthony Cook of Philomath/New York, daughter Amy (Ken) Decker of Corvallis, and grandson Nathan.
Donations in Steve’s name can be made to Home Life of Corvallis (http://homelifeinc.org).
A celebration of life will be at a later date.
