Wayne Carter of Parker, Arizona died May 4, 2018.
He was born on April 29, 1935, near Corvallis and spent his childhood and raised his family in Philomath.
He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean conflict and was a member of the American Legion in Lapine, Oregon, and the VFW post in Parker, Arizona.
Mr. Carter was a voting member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.
He worked as an ironworker and welder for 30 years in Oregon and Alaska.
His hobbies were fishing, camping and watching baseball.
He is survived by his three children, Hal Carter (wife, Lisa) of Philomath, Kyle Carter (wife, Brandi) of Canby and Carlea Freeman of Lebanon. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Other survivors include two sisters, Marquita Rampenthal of Albany and Joan Nusbaum of Philomath; and one brother, Frank Carter of Albany.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jan; his first wife, Karen; his parents; three brothers; and two sisters.
There will be no formal services.
