The Benton County Historical Society is hosting an exhibition on woodworking art through March 3 in the museum's Moreland Gallery.
"Ted: An Oregon Woodworking Art Exhibition" features carvings by Ted Porter and marquetry by Ted Chapman.
Chapman (1929-2017) and Porter (1908-2004) were Oregon woodworkers who devoted much of their retirement years to mastering their arts. Both occasionally gave away pieces of their art to family or friends, but most of their bodies of work remained as intact collections.
Porter donated his collection to the Horner Museum in 1986. While the Benton County Historical Society owns one piece of Chapman’s work, most of the pieces exhibited are on loan from Chapman’s family.
The library is open 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. Admission is free.
