The Philomath High School boys basketball team rolled to a 68-48 victory Friday on the road over Tillamook.

Senior Kenan Conner had a big night with 25 points on 10 field goals and 5 of 6 free throws.

"Kenan played very well all around," PHS coach Blake Ecker said. "It was a great team win and to be able to battle adversity and foul trouble."

Indeed, the officials were wearing out their whistles on the Warriors and Tillamook went to the foul line 32 times for the game. In fact, the Cheesemakers hit only a dozen shots in the contest with 23 points, just one shy of half, coming on free throws.

Philomath (7-5) led just 13-12 after the first quarter but opened up a 15-point lead by halftime thanks to a 20-6 advantage in the second. The Cheesemakers could never recover the rest of the way.

Conner played a key role in that big second quarter by scoring 12 of his points during that eight-minute stretch alone. Conner had 19 points by the time the two teams went into the locker room at halftime.

Senior Nolan Jackson finished in double digits for scoring as well with 15 points on six field goals, including a 3-pointer, and 2 of 5 free throws. Jackson scored 12 of his points in the second half.

Junior Marshall Brattain scored 12 points on four field goals and 4 of 5 free throws.

Ian Collett scored 26 points, including 13 of 15 on free throws, for Tillamook (9-4).

The Warriors will open Oregon West Conference play Tuesday with a trip to Stayton. The boys will tip off at 5:30 p.m. The Eagles come into the game with a 5-9 record.
