What are your goals in life once football is over for you?

"Immediately following the football season I'm doing some traveling for three months to Fiji, Samoa, Australia and New Zealand with my buddies. That's just a time to relax and take a break from the grind of the four years we've been on. After that, I graduated with a degree in construction engineering. So I'm going to work for a construction firm, Turner Construction. My goals there are building things, and lately I've been interested in sustainable building. Then eventually get an MBA too."

What are your hobbies that keep you busy between practices?

"I really enjoy going on motorcycle trips with my dad. I play the guitar. And of course I love to read. I love doing outdoor stuff like camping."

What is your favorite type of music you listen to, to get you in the mood to play?

"I use music differently. I rarely use it to get jacked up for games. That comes naturally for me. I don't need that. I listen to music after practice to settle back down. I like a lot of acoustic music, Jack Johnson. But I like classic rock and R&B too."

Do you have a favorite class or area of study?

"Within construction engineering management there's different areas you can go. I'm interested in commercial construction."

If you could have a dinner conversation with a historical figure, dead or alive, who would it be?

"Abraham Lincoln. He's one of my favorites. I've read a few biographies on him this summer. Personally, I think he's one of the greatest political leaders we've seen. I'd like to sit down and ask him how he did it."

What would be served at that dinner?

"I'm pretty easy going about food but I'm a fan of plain old spaghetti."

Who is the biggest influence in your life?

"My parents would be for sure. And I'd have to say the coaching staff here is a close second."

What is something people don't know about you that would surprise them?

"I think a lot of people were surprised by (teammate) Kevin (Frahm) and I reading so much over the summer. That's one thing, and expanding on that is a lot of people would be surprised that I'm always looking for new things to learn and do."

What's your childhood fear?

"I was always protective of my younger siblings. I'm the oldest of four. I was always scared something was going to happen to them. I remember one time my brother and I played on the same Little League team and he got hit in the face with a baseball. I remember being so scared for him."

What is your guilty pleasure?

"I'd have to say, this isn't as bad as a lot of people, but getting on Facebook."

Who is your celebrity dream date?

"That's a tough one. Maybe, I know she's married, but Mia Hamm."

Do you have a special talent?

"I'd have to say I'm fairly talented playing the guitar, and I like to sing."

What one thing would you change about yourself if you could?

"I'd like a little more speed in my arsenal."

What one thing would you change about the world if you could?

"I wish everyone had a chance to be part of team, something like we have here. Within that, if everyone worked together as a team, let themselves go a little bit for the common goal. That's what we learn here, and I wish everybody had that opportunity."

What family traditions do you still follow?

"Every year toward the end of summer before fall camp starts, my brother and I go on a family vacation. And not just any family vacation, we go in an RV around the country. We went up to Wallowa Mountains in northeastern Oregon this last time."
