Marissa Kovac recorded a hat trick to help the Crescent Valley High girls soccer team to a 5-1 nonconference win over Hood River on Tuesday.

Kovac scored in the third minute off an assist from Molly Lanning to put CV up 1-0.

It was 1-1 at the half before the Raiders scored four times in a 19-minute span to put it away. Lanning and Kovac teamed up again, Kovac and Lauren De Carolis had unassisted goals and Abby Kovac scored off an assist from Zoe Liebeskind for the Raiders.

"We had a bunch of girls sick so we were kind of lethargic," coach Andrew Donaldson said. "They picked up the intensity in the second half and scrapped out a win."

The Raiders (4-0) will face Mt. View and Bend this Friday and Saturday, respectively, on the road.

PHILOMATH - Joy deVos recorded four assists and started a fifth scoring sequence and also scored a hat trick as the Warriors rolled to the nonleague victory.

"We worked on the short, quick passes today and it really worked," coach John Williams said.

The Warriors (3-1-1) scored in the first two minutes of both halves because of their ball movement.

Rylee Marshall also had three goals, while Tegan Grunwald scored twice.

Philomath will host Astoria on Friday.
