KAHUKU, Hawaii - The Oregon State women's golf team is in 18th place following the opening round of play Monday at the Turtle Bay College Invitational hosted by the University of Hawaii.

Leading the way for the Beavers was junior Cara Freeman, who recovered from a rough front nine to record a 1-under 35 on the back side for a 75.

Sophomore Whitney French and freshman Chelsey Lind, who is in the lineup for the first time, each shot 6-over-78 to tie for 62nd. Seniors Brittany Stewart and Lauren Archer tallied matching 83's.
