SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - Fourteenth-ranked heavyweight Clayton Jack sealed a 21-18 upset for the No. 20 Oregon State wrestling team over Pacific-10 Conference rival No. 16 Cal Poly on Saturday at Mott Gym.

He took a 2-0 lead after the first period and held on to the end for a 6-2 win over Jim Powers in the final match of the day.

The Beavers (18-1, 6-1) have won 17 straight dual meets, and defeated a ranked opponent for the third time this season.

Fifteenth-ranked Jason started the meet with an 11-7 decision over Micah Ferguson at 125 pounds. The next match between No. 16 Kelly Kubec and No. 5 Boris Novachkov was an overtime thriller with Kubec winning in sudden victory to pick up his 30th win of the season.

Cal Poly took a 14-6 lead before senior Dan Brascetta cut the Mustangs' lead to five with his 6-4 decision over Steven Vasquez at 165 pounds.

Ninth-ranked Colby Covington earned his 15th fall of the season, pinning Geoff Doss in 4:11 to earn his 33rd win of the season.

The Mustangs (7-4, 4-2) took the lead back after the 184 pound match, but sophomore Chad Hanke tied things up at 197 pounds. After a scoreless first period, Ryan Smith took a 1-0 lead on the escape but Hanke took over in the third period scoring all of his points and making the meet hinge on the heavyweight bout.
