Angela Misa has been granted her release from the Oregon State women's basketball program and will not return for her sophomore year. OSU athletic department officials said her departure was for unspecified personal reasons.
A 6-foot-1 forward/center from Junipero Serra Catholic High in San Juan Capistrano, Calif., who lives in Oceanside, Calif., Misa averaged 0.6 points, 0.8 rebounds and 3.7 minutes per game in 27 appearances in 2009-10.
She is the eighth player from the 2010 team to leave OSU with eligibility remaining. A ninth, sophomore guard Haiden Palmer, has asked to be released from her scholarship but has not announced if she will transfer. She is enrolled in school for fall classes, OSU officials said.
Senior forward El Sara Greer and junior guard Brittany Kennedy are the only other returning players from last year's roster. The Beavers have also announced two signings for next year.
LaVonda Wagner was fired on June 1 after five years as head coach, in part due to the mass exodus of players. Her coaching staff was also dismissed.
Interviews are underway to determine her successor and OSU athletic director Bob De Carolis said he hopes to have the new coach hired by July 1.
