Oregon State wrestling coach Jim Zalesky will not be with his team today for the Pac-10 Championships in Gill Coliseum.

Zalesky has been in Iowa this week tending to a serious illness in the family, according to his wife, Teri.

He stepped away from the Beavers at convenient times during the season, but his absence couldn't be helped in this situation.

"That's why you have good assistants," Teri Zalesky said.

Assistant coaches Kevin Roberts and Troy Steiner will lead the team that goes after its third conference title in the five seasons Zalesky has coached the Beavers.

"We want to wrestle for coach," senior Colby Covington said. "There are tough times going on for him, so we want to dedicate wrestling this weekend to him."
