PANEVEZYS, Lithuania — Oregon State sophomore guard Jamie Weisner scored 33 points on 14-for-17 shooting and grabbed 10 rebounds at the FIBA U19 World Championship for Women to help Canada to a 69-67 victory over the Netherlands on the second day of the tournament.
Following Thursday’s win-by-forfeit over Senegal, Canada is now 2-0 and is tied atop Group C alongside France with four points.
Weisner’s offensive output accounted for 48 percent of her team’s scoring.
“Our team is really excited about our first win after not playing yesterday,” Weisner said. “We rebounded really well tonight and that helped us in running our offense. We still have some work to do on defense and we will have to get ready for tomorrow.”
Canada will face France Saturday at 5:45 a.m. (Pacific time) in a clash of two 2-0 teams.
