Oregon State freshman defensive lineman Noa Aluesi was dismissed from the football team for violating team rules, coach Mike Riley announced Monday.

Riley would not elaborate on what happened. Aluesi was technically suspended for the first game of the season for previously violating team rules in the offseason.

Aluesi, a 6-foot, 276-pounder, had not played this season and was expected to redshirt.

The 2011 Jefferson High in Portland grad delayed enrollment until the 2012 winter term.

Injury report

Several players besides quarterback Sean Mannion sat out of practice Monday. All are expected back soon and will be available for Saturday’s game at BYU, Riley said.

Starting receiver Markus Wheaton (foot) and outside linebacker D.J. Welch (ankle) were expected to watch practice. Starting offensive guard Grant Enger and reserve offensive linemen Justin Addie have undisclosed injuries.

“We’ll be ready for the game,” Wheaton said. “I’ll be back (today).”

Utah start time

OSU’s Oct. 20 home Pac-12 game against Utah will start at 7:30 p.m. and be broadcast nationally on ESPN (35) or ESPN2 (36).
