Former University of Alabama quarterback Luke Del Rio has signed a financial aid agreement to transfer to Oregon State, head coach Mike Riley announced Saturday.
Del Rio, the son of Denver Broncos defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio, is a 6-foot-2, 203-pound quarterback who graduated from Valor Christian High School in Highlands Ranch, Colo. He spent the 2013 season as a true freshman walk-on for the Crimson tide and will be eligible to participate in OSU’s spring drills, which begin March 31.
“We are very excited that Luke has chosen to join the Oregon State football program,” Riley said. “He is an exceptional young man and will be a great representative of Beaver Nation on and off the field.”
Del Rio is the second athlete to transfer to OSU since the football season ended, joining offensive lineman Bobby Keenan from American River Community College. Keenan enrolled at OSU earlier this month.
