Oregon State gymnastics coach Tanya Chaplin announced Wednesday that four gymnasts signed national letters of intent.
The 2013 recruiting class consists of Megan Jimenez (Temecula, Calif.), Kana Kobayashi (Salt Lake City), Kaytianna McMillan (Coburg) and Taylor Ricci (North Vancouver, B.C.).
“We are very excited to sign these four young women,” Chaplin said. “They are talented gymnasts and excellent students with the ability and drive to become the next standouts for the Oregon State gymnastics program.”
Jimenez is a five-time Junior Olympic National Championship qualifier. She won back-to-back all-around titles at the Southern California State Championships in 2010 and ’11.
Kobayashi won a J.O. national championship on the uneven bars in 2011 and finished eighth in the all-around.
McMillan is a three-time J.O. nationals qualifier. In 2012, McMillan placed third on the beam and eighth on vault at J.O. nationals.
Ricci performed at the Senior High Performance level in Canada. In 2012, Ricci earned first-place finishes in the all-around and on beam and floor at the British Columbia Championships and finished 18th in the all-around at the Canadian Championships.
The Beavers open the season tonight at 7 at Gill Coliseum with the annual Orange & Black Exhibition. Admission is free.
