The Oregon State wrestling team will head south this weekend for the annual Las Vegas Invitational, scheduled for Friday and Saturday at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

The Beavers (2-0) have not competed since Nov. 18, when they placed 11th at the 17-team Navy Classic. Redshirt junior Corey Griego (197) went 4-0 and won his weight class; redshirt senior heavyweight and redshirt sophomore Seth McLeod (184) each placed fifth.

OSU is not ranked in the NWCA Top 25 poll. It is No. 22 in the InterMat Dual Meet Rankings and No. 20 in the InterMat Tournament Rankings, both of which were released on Tuesday. Four wrestlers were ranked in their respective weight classes by InterMat.

Four Beavers are ranked by InterMat or The Open Mat.

Redshirt senior heavyweight Amarveer Dhesi is ranked No. 5 by InterMat and No. 6 by The Open Mat and the Amateur Wrestling News. An All-American after taking fifth at the 2016 NCAA Championships, he missed 2016-17 and has not yet competed this season while recovering from a November 2016 knee reconstruction.

Griego is ranked ninth by the Amateur Wrestling News and 13th by InterMat and The Open Mat. Redshirt senior Jack Hathaway (141) is ranked 14th by the Amateur Wrestling News and 16th by The Open Mat.

Redshirt junior Ronnie Bresser (125) is ranked sixth by the Amateur Wrestling News and ninth by InterMat. He won the 125-pound title at the Mike Clock Open at Pacific University on Nov. 12 while competing unattached. He hasn’t wrestled as an attached competitor this season but is expected to return to the lineup for the Dec. 10 dual at Michigan.

OSU’s next home dual is Jan. 14 against Wyoming.

Swimming

The Beavers (0-5) are back in action this Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the University of Washington’s Husky Invitational at Federal Way, Washington.

OSU has not competed since falling 143-116 at Seattle University on Nov. 11. At that meet, junior Arianna Letrari won the 100 butterfly, the 200 butterfly and the 200 IM; sophomore Felicia Anderson won the 100 backstroke and the 200 backstroke, and freshman Fernanda Rodriguez won the 100 breaststroke.

Letrari, Anderson, Rodriguez and senior Noemie Midrez also teamed up to win the 400 medley relay.

OSU’s next home meet is Jan. 12 against UCLA at the Osborn Aquatic Center.

Gymnastics

The Beavers will open the 2017-18 season on Dec. 15 with the annual Orange & Black Exhibition at Gill Coliseum, starting at 7 p.m.

OSU opens the regular season at Pittsburgh on Jan. 13. It starts the Pacific-12 Conference season at Utah on Jan. 19; the home opener with Stanford is set for 2:30 p.m. on Jan. 27.
