CORVALLIS — On a day when eight members of the Oregon State men’s soccer program were honored before the match against No. 20 Washington, senior Jordan Jones became the difference maker as his sixth career brace paved the way for a 4-3 win to close the 2017 season.

“We had to do some makeup work after going down by two, which the guys did," said head coach Steve Simmons. "We challenged them at halftime — they came out and went right after it.”

The Beavers (7-11-0, 4-6-0 Pac-12) were held scoreless in the first half on a muddy Paul Lorenz Field, while the Huskies (12-6-1, 5-4-1 Pac-12) held an early 2-0 lead at intermission.

Handwalla Bwana buried both goals for UW in the stanza.

The Beavers came out strong in the second half as senior Timmy Mueller led a fast break down Washington’s half of the field and found freshman Andre Earthy-Find, who banked it in for OSU's first goal.

OSU kept the pedal to the floor in the 54th minute as senior Jalen Markey scored to even the match at 2-2.

Jones took command shortly after, taking a feed from sophomore Loke Strenov on the right wing and slipping his shot past a diving Kerawala in the 56th minute for a 3-2 Beaver lead.

The native of Pacific Grove, California, added the insurance goal in the 77th minute.

Washington responded with a goal 20 seconds later but the defense went on lockdown in the final 15 minutes to preserve the 4-3 decision.

Before the game, the eight members honored on Senior Day were Jones, Mueller, redshirt junior Ryan Vincent, Markey, senior Jaime Miralles, senior Sam Tweeton, redshirt junior CJ Brill and redshirt junior Matthias Binder. All eight started the game for their last career appearance as Beavers.
