Oregon State track and field has hired a new sprints and jumps coach.
Pete Herber has worked previously at Utah, South Florida, Iowa State and Coe College.
“Having started my coaching career in Division III, I learned very quickly that coaching is about the student-athletes and helping them reach their goals,” Herber said. “Whether it has been at Coe College, Iowa State, South Florida, Utah and now Oregon State, that hasn’t changed. Making sure that the student-athletes leave here having found their limitations while having a great experience is a top priority.”
Herber has coached six NCAA qualifiers, five All-Americans and four U.S. Championship qualifiers. His coaching has allowed nine student-athletes to set school records and numerous athletes to be conference scorers.
“I was searching for a coach with great experience in the jumps/sprints area, and Pete fits the mold of what we are trying to accomplish here," Oregon State head coach Louis Quintana said. "I believe that Pete will continue to elevate this area of our program to be competitive at the Pac-12 level.”
