EUGENE — Junior Emma Jones scored her first goal of the season to help the Oregon State women's soccer team edge Oregon 1-0 on Friday.
It was the first victory for the Beavers at Papè Field since the 2010 season and the first Civil War victory since 2013. The win was also the first time OSU has won back-to-back Pac-12 road games since 2011, when it defeated the Arizona schools.
The match was the final for both teams as Oregon State finished its season 8-10-2 overall and 3-8 in the conference. Oregon was 8-10-2 overall and 2-8-1.
Junior Bella Geist was solid in between the pipes in the final outing, tallying six saves—three each half. Geist saw 17 shots from the Ducks, including four corner kicks.
The Beavers broke a scoreless tie in the 81st minute after Jones received a pass from Nikki Faris at the top of the box and fired through the Ducks' keeper to score.
