FRESNO, Calif. — Senior Taylor Cotton picked up her sixth win of the season after hurling a one-hit shutout Saturday afternoon in Oregon State's 3-0 softball win over Sacramento State at the Fresno State Invite.
The lefty lowered her ERA to 1.16 and has three shutouts and four complete games.
The Beavers recorded back-to-back singles before Natalie Hampton doubled down the right-field line to score both runners in the first. Hampton now has 137 RBI, seven shy of Tarrah Beyster's (1997-2000) school record 143.
The Beavers added to their lead in the fourth inning after a two-out single by Sammi Noland and a double by Kayleen Shafer.
Cotton allowed the one hit with seven strikeouts. Shelby Weeks and Shafer both had two hits ans eight Beavers had at least one.
The Beavers closed the day with a 6-2 loss to Fresno State. Oregon State took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth on a single by Noland that plated Hampton.
But the Bulldogs scored four times in the bottom of the frame to take control.
Oregon State wraps up the tournament with a 9 a.m. game against Sacramento State on Sunday.
