SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — Senior Sammy Harrison stayed undefeated in the 500-yard freestyle this season with a win in the event against UCLA and UC Santa Barbara on Saturday afternoon.
Harrison clocked a time of 4 minutes, 58.66 seconds to edge UCLA’s Sandra Soe (4:59.15) en route to a victory in the 500. Saturday’s win was her fifth win in the event this season and ninth individual victory overall.
Sophomore Noemie Midrez also placed in the top-five in the 500 free, touching the wall in 5:21.18.
Harrison opened the meet with the 1,000-yard freestyle, placing second with a time of 10:17.71.
Brooke Meyer was the Beavers’ next-highest finisher, placing third in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 58.62. Megan Lam was fourth (58.92), while Jesikah Cavanaugh and Constance Toulemonde tied for fifth (59.68).
Oregon State also recorded a third-place finish in the 400-yard free relay, as the foursome of Toulemonde, Andrea Young, Anni Hecker and Harrison finished in 3:35.93.
Czsarina Isleta recorded a trio of fourth-place finishes, clocking times of 1:06.02 in the 100-yard breaststroke, 2:22.57 in the 200-yard breaststroke and 2:11.65 in the 200-yard individual medley.
Rounding out the Beavers’ top performers were Corrine Shigeta, who was fifth in the 200 IM (2:13.28) to place fifth, as well as Amani Amr, who registered a time of 2:04.65 to finish in fifth in the 200-yard backstroke.
The Beavers will take a week off before returning to action against Pacific and Fresno State on Nov. 7.
