PHILOMATH - Once the Philomath High girls soccer team settled down, the Special District 4 seeding game with Sweet Home was over.

The Warriors scored five goals in an 11-minute span to claim the 5-0 victory and the top seed to the state playoffs.

"We started out and kind of played frantic for the first 12 minutes," PHS coach John Williams said. "As soon as we settled down, we made crisp passes and it was five goals."

The Warriors (13-2-1) will host a second-round playoff game at noon on Nov. 10 against either La Grande or Hidden Valley.

Tegan Grunwald scored the eventual game-winner in the 13th minute off a pass from Joy deVos. DeVos got an insurance goal two minutes later and PHS put the contest away on Sierra Grunwald's goal in the 24th minute.

Sierra Grunwald finished with two assists and a goal.

Sweet Home advances as the No. 2 seed and will host North Bend on Saturday in a first-round game.
