Crescent Valley sweeps South Albany in MWC volleyball
ALBANY - Corvallis High let a 20-15 first-game lead slip away on Tuesday and West Albany never let the Spartans back in the Mid-Willamette Conference volleyball match, taking a 3-0 victory.
Game scores were 25-23, 25-13, 25-16.
"We had a really good first game," CHS coach Amy Wright said. "We were ahead 20-15 and we let up. We never got it back together."
Corvallis (2-1) will host Crescent Valley on Thursday.
"We were hoping be the clash of the undefeateds, but…" Wright said.

Kati Nelson had 10 service aces and Hanna Lorenz had 20 assists for Crescent Valley in the Mid-Willamette Conference match. Game scores were 25-8, 26-24, 25-17.
Christy Reed had seven kills and Cassie Daneke had five kills and two blocks. All 14 players made contributions, CV (3-0) coach Cory Barton said.
"The first game, we knew we had it handled and we tried different things," Barton said.
Oakridge 3, Monroe 1
OAKRIDGE - Samantha Boyd had 12 kills and five blocks to lead Oakridge to the Mountain View Conference victory.
Game scores were 25-20, 20-25, 25-12, 25-18.
Monroe was led by Kim Thompson with eight aces and seven blocks and Clara Crocker had nine digs. Monroe (1-3) will host Riddle on Thursday.
Triangle Lake 3, Alsea 1
BLACHLY - Triangle Lake controlled play in the final three games to defeat Alsea in the Mountain West League match.
Game scores were 23-25, 25-12, 25-22, 25-22. Alsea (2-5, 0-3) hosts Lifegate on Thursday.
S. Christian 3, Jefferson 0
JEFFERSON - Tayla Woods and Kiersten Hendrix combined for 28 assists in a PacWest Conference match. Game scores were 25-18, 25-16, 25-18.
Woods had 11 kills and 15 assists for the Eagles (5-0, 3-0), while Kristin Knaupp had eight kills and 7 digs. Tiffany Land added seven kills and Corrie Bellamy had eight digs.
SC plays at Creswell of Thursday.
Newport 3, Philomath 0
NEWPORT - The Cubs won the Val-Co League match by 25-19, 25-14 and 25-21.
Skye Houke and Juleia Dooley had four kills each for PHS (2-1), which is home with Central on Thursday.
Boys soccer
ALBANY - Curtis Burwell created opportunities for his Santiam Christian teammates and the result was a 5-0 victory over East Linn Christian in the 3A/2A/1A Special District 4 opener for both squads.
Mark Huff scored twice for SC (2-0-2, 1-0-0). Andrew Conniff had a goal and an assist.
SC plays at Jefferson on Friday.
