There might just be a new rivalry forming between Regis High and Santiam Christian High.

Both are in the newly formed PacWest Conference, and both have strong boys programs.

The two schools met during the football season with then No. 2 Regis taking a 14-7 win at then No. 1 SC.

Tonight, No. 1 Santiam Christian hosts No. 2 Regis on the hardwood.

Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.

Santiam Christian enters 10-1, 4-0 in conference play and winners of six straight.

Regis is even hotter, entering 13-1, 5-0 in conference and winners of 12 straight.

Regis' lone loss came on Dec. 2, 69-55 to Western Mennonite at the Western Mennonite tournament. Regis avenged that loss two games later, winning 55-52 at the SC tournament.

Santiam Christian dropped a 40-35 decision to Cascade Christian in the championship game of the Cascade Christian tournament.

Each team received two first-place votes in the most recent coaches' poll released last week. SC edged Regis by two points (71-69).

Jefferson girls on fire

Jefferson the top-ranked 5A girls basketball team, has been on fire lately, winning its last three games by scoring over 100 points.

The Democrats beat Madison 111-22 on Friday to improve to 11-1. They defeated Marshall 103-42 and Cleveland 106-33 in their two previous games.

Their lone loss came against 6A Newberg, 63-53, in the Redmond tournament. They rebounded by defeating 6A Jesuit 62-59.

Another big game

The second-ranked Crescent Valley girls face another key Mid-Willamette Conference test today when the Raiders travel to Silverton.

CV (9-3, 2-0) is coming off a 55-18 win over crosstown rival Corvallis on Friday and a 45-46 win over West Albany last Tuesday.

The Foxes (9-3, 2-0) have defeated South Albany and Lebanon in conference play.

Silverton hung tough with Jefferson, falling 59-48 on a neutral court on Dec. 9.

Game change

The location of Wednesday's boys basketball games between Corvallis and West Albany has been moved to West Albany.
