ALBANY - Gabe Johnson scored 18 points, Katie Schrock had 17 and Syree Gerner added 14 as the Corvallis High girls basketball team pulled away in the second half for an 80-45 Mid-Willamette Conference victory over South Albany on Tuesday night.
The Spartans led 38-26 at the half but scored the first 10 points and finished with a 27-9 advantage in the quarter to push the lead to 65-35.
Corvallis (9-2, 3-0) was in foul trouble throughout most of the first half, and South Albany stayed close by hitting 11 of 12 free throws in the half.
The Spartans scored 17 of the first 20 points in the third quarter to break it open.
Alaina Adams added nine points, all in the second half, as she played just more than two minutes in the first half after picking up three fouls.
The Spartans are home against crosstown rival Crescent Valley on Thursday.

CRESWELL - Tayla Woods scored 24 points and the Eagles (14-0, 5-0), finally at full strength again, remained undefeated by holding off the Bulldogs in the PacWest Conference game.
"This was our first game since game one with my entire team because we've had two starters out with injuries," SC coach Kim McClain said. "It was great to have everybody tonight.
"Rachel Kubler did a fantastic job on defense," and scored 10 points herself while guarding Creswell's best player. "It was close all the way through but once we got the lead we never gave it up."
The Eagles play at Chemewa on Friday night in another PWC game.

DRAIN - A North Douglas player missed twice after being fouled while shooting a 3-pointer in the final seconds and Monroe escaped with the Mountain View Conference win.
Tarah Renshaw had nine points and Kelsey Seitzinger added six assists and three steals for the Dragons (5-6, 2-1), who resume conference play on Friday with a home game against Glendale.

ALSEA - McKenzie outscored Alsea 11-5 in the fourth quarter and pulled away for the Mountain West Conference victory.
"We're young at several positions and we pushed it a little bit, thinking we had to score faster than we had to," in the fourth quarter, Alsea coach Lynn Cowdrey said. "We forced it offensively."
Whitney Schreiber had 18 points and Violet Cathcart 17 for Alsea (5-4), which plays at Crow on Friday.
