High school roundup
EUGENE - Corvallis High dominated possession, shots on goal and frustration on Thursday as the Spartans finished with a 1-1 tie against North Eugene in a nonconference girls soccer match.
"We controlled the majority of the possession," coach Dan Finnen said. "They rarely had the ball in our half the entire first half, we just couldn't get it in between the crossbars."
After North Eugene took a 1-0 lead, the Spartans had to contend with a packed in defense and were unable to breakthrough until the final minute.
Lani Penner collected the equalizer on a penalty kick with two seconds remaining.
Corvallis plays at South Salem tonight.
