McKENZIE - Alsea High could not get its offense going in a 41-26 Mountain West Conference playoff loss to McKenzie.

The Wolverines (13-5) will play Mohawk at Harrisburg on Saturday for the third seed to the playoffs. The loser will be eliminated.

On Thursday, Alsea played solid defense but managed six points in the first half, all coming in the first quarter.

Alsea coach Lynn Cowdrey said he had the team working hard on defense for the playoffs but didn't get the players ready on offense.

"I just need to do a better job of preparing them on the offensive end," Cowdrey said.
