GERVAIS - The Santiam Christian Eagles lost to Gervais 2-1 in a shootout on Tuesday in a Special District 4 boys soccer seeding match.
The game went to two overtimes before being decided by penalty kicks. The Cougars outshot SC, 5-4, to earn the victory.
"It was an extremely hard fought game," Eagles' coach David Harvey said. "The field conditions were difficult, but both teams played hard. We had many chances but we just couldn't put it in the back of the net."
As a result, SC (10-4-2) is the No. 3 seed from Special District 4 to the state playoffs. The Eagles won't find out who they play in the first round of the playoffs on Tuesday until Friday.
