3A, 2A, 1A Title Games
HILLSBORO - Gold Beach High held Vale to 136 total yards and the Panthers' Travis Moore rushed for five touchdowns en route to a 42-0 victory over Vale in the 3A state football championship game on Saturday.
Moore finished with 240 yards on 31 carries, scoring on runs of 1, 10, 3, 28 and 1 for the Panthers (14-0).
Vale (10-3) was bidding for its first state championship since 1993, when it won the last of its 10 titles.
The championship is Gold Beach's first since sharing the crown with South Umpqua in 1976. The Panthers lost the championship game in 2004.
The Vikings had reached the title game by defeating Clatskanie 37-6 in the semifinals. Clatskanie defeated Santiam Christian in double overtime in the first-round of the playoffs.
Gold Beach had beaten Rainier 39-18 in the semifinals.
The Panthers led the title game 27-0 at the half.
Vale's Luke Skerjanec had 12.5 tackles and Eric Coy added nine, including two for losses.
Gold Beach's Mitch McDonald had 9.5 tackles and Anthony Simera had seven. Moore and Garett Wolford each recorded a sack.
2A
HILLSBORO - Nevin Lewis had a 1-yard touchdown run, extra-point kick and a field goal to score all 10 points as Culver knocked off Heppner 10-6 to win the 2A state title.
Culver led 10-0 before Heppner got on the board with a 26-yard Brent Eckman run late in the third quarter.
Culver won despite gaining just 123 yards of total offense. Heppner had 133, all on the ground.

HILLSBORO - Mohawk jumped out to a 22-0 lead at the half, then held on for a 22-16 victory over Imbler in the 1A state title game.
Brody Wilkins had a 47-yard run for a score in the first quarter, then added an 8-yard run later. Both two-point conversion attepmts were successful.
Wilkins made it 22-0 with his third score, a 1-yard run late in the second quarter
Imbler cut into the Mohawk lead on Nick West's 3-yard run in the third and made it 22-16 in the late in the fourth on Nick Thompson's 3-yard run.
Mohawk rushed for 272 yards compared to 58 for Imbler.
