MILWAUKEE - Santiam Christian earned a hard-fought 12-7 non-conference football victory over La Salle Friday night.

Inclement weather affected play as the field was soggy, according to Eagles coach Steve Woods.

"I knew before the game due to the weather, that this was going to be a low scoring game," Woods said.

Rob Shader put SC on the board with a 9-yard run in the first quarter.

That lead, however, was short-lived, as La Salle answered with 1:34 left in the half and converted on the point after to take a 7-6 lead.

The Eagles drove down the field on the ensuing possession and scored when quarterback Joel Mason found Shader open for a 9-yard touchdown.

"We had two long drives in the red zone that resulted in turnovers," Woods said. "So that play shifted the momentum to us."

In the second half, the Eagles' defense took over to preserve the win for the Eagles. Four players finished with nine tackles apiece for SC.

Shader finished with 72 yards rushing and 34 receiving to lead the Eagles who improved to 9-1. They host Vale next Saturday in the first round of the playoffs.
