CORVALLIS - Corvallis High dealt with the state soccer playoff jitters the best way possible on Saturday.
The Spartans got a lead and an insurance goal in the first half in a 3-0 victory over Hermiston in a 5A girls first-round game.
"We got a lot of girls some playoff experience and got some jitters out of the way," CHS coach Tony Vandermeer said.
Annie Spiegelberg collected the shutout, making three saves. Kacie Dalton scored the first goal in the 22nd minute, then assited on Lani Penner's goal six minutes later. Whitney Redberg finished the scoring in the 74th minute.
The Spartans (8-6-1) play at Cleveland on Tuesday. Cleveland dealt Corvallis a 1-0 loss early in the season.

Alsea wins
JEWELL - The Alsea High football team concluded its regular season on Friday with a 42-24 victory at Jewell.
Tyson Schreiber had 23 carries for 284 yards and four touchdowns for the Wolverines.
Alsea (7-3) plays Triad at Klamath Falls on Saturday in the first round of the state playoffs.
