EUGENE — With a solid defensive effort and a balanced offensive attack the Corvallis High girls basketball team rolled into Marist and came away with the 56-39 win.  

Five different players on Corvallis made 3-pointers and the team went 18-21 from the free throw line.

Alexandria Vallancey-Martinson led the team with 14 points total. Grace Corbin scored seven of her 12 points in the first quarter.

The Spartans jumped on a quick 19-10 lead and never looked back. 

Corvallis (3-1) will host South Eugene on Friday. 

Blanchet 49, Santiam Christian 34

SALEM — Santiam Christian took its first loss of the season.

“Blanchet is a tough team and that’s a tough place to play,” coach Wendi Farris said. “It was a good measuring stick game for us.”

The Eagles (3-1) will play at Creswell on Friday and then will play in a mid-week tournament beginning on the 21st.

Monroe 43, East Linn Christian 30

LEBANON — Monroe stayed hot, extended win streak to five.

Kyndal Martin led the Dragons with 13 and Peyton Greene added 11.

Monroe (5-0) will play next in the St. Paul Tournament on Monday against Veronia.

Elmira 67, Philomath 57

ELMIRA — The Warriors fell to Elmira on the road.

Philomath (2-3) will host Valley Catholic on Friday. 

Waldport 53, Alsea 49

ALSEA – Alsea was narrowly defeated by Waldport at home.

Arielle Reed scored 24 points in the loss. 

Alsea (1-3, 0-1) will begin league play Thursday at home against Lowell. 

On Monday, the Wolverines dropped a 56-49 contest at Mohawk. Abbie Lowther led the way with 14 points.
