DALLAS — Tariq Harris and the Crescent Valley High boys basketball team took over first place in the Mid-Willamette Conference Friday night with a 60-55 victory at Dallas.
South Albany (15-3, 7-3), which entered the night tied with CV (13-6, 8-2) atop the standings, suffered a 76-46 loss at Central on Friday.
Harris put up 17 points in the win while Trey Adams finished with 15.
The Raiders were playing without Talanoa Hufanga, who suffered an ankle injury Tuesday night against Central.
CV outplayed Dallas in the second quarter and lead 26-18 at the break. Dallas began trapping in the fourth quarter and forced some turnovers, but it wasn’t enough.
The Raiders will play at Woodburn on Tuesday.
Philomath 64, Newport 56
NEWPORT — The Warriors overcame a 31-point second quarter by Newport to win on the road in Oregon West Conference play.
Philomath has won eight straight overall.
The Warriors opened the game on an 11-2 run before Newport went to a 1-1-3 zone that led to a 33-16 run to close the half.
Philomath came out with energy in the third and was able to enter the fourth quarter with a one-point edge. The Warriors never looked back.
Cal Stueve scored 25 points in the win.
Philomath (16-3, 7-0) will host North Marion on Tuesday.
Dayton 60, Santiam Christian 52
DAYTON — Despite a 23-point performance from Grant Carley, Santiam Christian wrapped up its West Valley League season with a loss at Dayton.
The Eagles struggled in the first half but had a massive third quarter, scoring 25 points.
SC closed to within four in the fourth but couldn’t complete the rally.
The Eagles (11-10, 7-7) will host Willamina or Taft on Friday in the WVL playoffs.
NEWPORT — Hailey Matthews' six points off the bench provided Philomath with the second-quarter spark it needed to pull away and beat Newport, 48-23.
Emma Pankalla led all scorers with 17 points while Lauren Berklund poured in 12.
The Warriors (7-10, 3-4) will host North Marion on Tuesday.
Dallas 64, Crescent Valley 48
DALLAS — The Raiders dropped their game to Mid-Willamette Conference foe Dallas.
CV (8-10, 3-7) will hope to rebound against Woodburn on Wednesday.
Dayton 52, Santiam Christian 19
DAYTON — The Pirates took down the Eagles to close the regular season
Next up for SC (15-6, 10-4 West Valley League) is the league playoffs.
Monroe 68, Canyonville Christian 21
CANYONVILLE — Monroe made it 23 straight and remains undefeated on the year.
The Dragons are 13-0 in the Mountain View Conference and will play their final league game Tuesday at Crow.
