MONROE — Monroe used a suffocating defense in the second half to roll to a 61-23 Mountain View Conference girls basketball win over Bonanza.

Monroe (12-2, 4-0) held Bonanza to six points in the second half.

"In the second half we really clamped down on defense," Monroe coach Tony Parker said. "We just did a better job of blocking out in the second half."

The Dragons host Oakland on Tuesday.

Gervais 40, Jefferson 38

GERVAIS — The Lions fell short on the road in the PacWest Conference game.

Jefferson (12-4, 3-2) had won seven of its last eight before Saturday's game.

The Lions host Salem Academy on Tuesday.

Blanchet Catholic 69, Scio 22

SCIO — The Loggers could not keep pace in the PacWest Conference loss.

Scio drops to 2-12 overall, 0-4 in conference.

The Loggers play at Chemawa on Friday.

MONROE — The Dragons used a strong press to take a big lead en route to the 83-46 Mountain View Conference win over Bonanza.

Monroe (11-4, 4-0) led 46-11 at the half.

Zach Young had 31 points, six rebounds and seven steals for Monroe.

Monroe hosts Oakland on Tuesday.

Jefferson 74, Gervais 47

GERVAIS — The Lions pulled away in the fourth quarter for the PacWest Conference road win.

Leon Romo Jr. scored nine of his 24 points in the fourth and Jefferson outscored Gervais 27-11 in the quarter.

Jefferson (9-8, 3-2) hosts Salem Academy on Tuesday.

Blanchet Catholic 65, Scio 32

SCIO — The Loggers were unable to hold home-court advantage in the PacWest Conference loss.

Scio fell to 4-12 overall, 1-4 in conference.

The Loggers play at Chemawa on Friday.
