Here is a look at Friday’s prep football action. All games begin at 7 p.m.

Springfield at Crescent Valley

Records: Springfield 0-1, 0-0 5A Midwestern League; Crescent Valley 1-0, 0-0 5A Mid-Willamette Conference.

It was a tale of two halves for Crescent Valley in last week’s opener at Marist.

Trailing 27-6 at the break, CV outscored the host Spartans 36-0 in the second half to pull out a 42-27 victory.

Talanoa Hufanga ran for three touchdowns and caught a score from Sawyer Cleveland. The junior quarterback accounted for three TDs (two passing, one rushing).

Springfield also squandered an early lead, allowing 33 consecutive points in a 33-6 home loss to Lebanon.

Bend at Corvallis

Records: Bend 0-1, 0-0 5A Special District 1; Corvallis 1-0, 0-0 MWC

Corvallis had no trouble in its opener at North Eugene, cruising to an easy 41-18 victory.

The Lava Bears were originally scheduled to host Central last Friday, but smoky conditions forced the game to be moved to Independence. The Panthers rolled to a 35-6 win, holding Bend to just 166 yards of total offense.

Bend held on for a 50-41 victory over Corvallis in last year’s matchup.

Philomath at North Bend

Records: Philomath 1-0, 0-0 4A Oregon West Conference; North Bend 1-0, 0-0 4A Far West League

In its first game since 2015, Philomath took down Junction City 19-12 to open the season.

The Warriors didn’t compete last year following a hazing investigation.

North Bend, the defending 4A state champion, pulled out a 21-20 home victory over Astoria in its opener.

Illinois Valley at Santiam Christian

Records: Illinois Valley 1-0, 0-0 3A Southern Cascade League; Santiam Christian 1-0, 0-0 3A West Valley League

Santiam Christian’s passing game stole the show in last week’s 48-18 thrashing of host Harrisburg.

Grant Carley threw for 347 yards and three touchdowns while Conrad Carter and Jason Manzi both eclipsed 100 yards receiving.

Illinois Valley is coming off a 40-20 neutral site win over Culver. The game was played at Roseburg High.

Monroe at St. Paul

Records: Monroe 1-0, 0-0 2A Mountain View Conference; St. Paul 1-0, 0-0 2A Tri-River Conference

Experienced Monroe made a statement in Week 1, routing Central Linn 56-12 at home.

The Buckaroos were just as impressive in a 40-0 shutout at Heppner.

The teams also met last season with St. Paul earning a 53-30 victory in Monroe.
