Corvallis at Crescent Valley Football

Corvallis High's Franklin Leonard makes a leaping catch against Crescent Valley. The Spartans host Dallas on Thursday while the Raiders will take on Forest Grove.

Here is a look at this week’s prep football action. All games begin at 7 p.m.

Thursday

Dallas at Corvallis

Records: Dallas 2-4, 0-3 5A Mid-Willamette Conference; Corvallis 2-4, 1-3 MWC

After dropping four consecutive games, the Spartans bounced back in a big way last week with a 40-37 comeback win at Silverton.

Corvallis held the Foxes to just seven second-half points while Roy Williams scored six total touchdowns. The senior returned the opening kickoff for a TD and tallied five rushing scores.

Dallas enters Thursday on a four-game losing streak, including a 22-18 heartbreaker to South Albany a week ago. The Dragons have lost their previous three games by just 16 combined points.

In last year’s meeting, Dallas pulled out a 2-0 win during a rainstorm on its muddy, grass field.

Forest Grove at Crescent Valley

Records: Forest Grove 1-5 overall and 6A Greater Valley Conference; Crescent Valley 6-0, 4-0 MWC

Conference-leading Crescent Valley will get a quick respite from MWC play.

The Raiders, who are 3-0 in one-possession games, picked up a 33-25 win at Central last Friday. CV also has road victories over Lebanon (25-24) and Marist (42-27) on its resume.

Forest Grove is surrendering a Greater Valley Conference-worst 39.7 points per game. The Raiders own the MWC’s top scoring offense at 38.2 per contest.

Talanoa Hufanga is dinged up with minor injuries and will be a game-time decision, CV coach Scott Sanders said Tuesday.

Cascade at Philomath

Records: Cascade 4-2, 3-0 4A Oregon West Conference; Philomath 1-5, 0-3 OWC

Philomath will be trying to halt a five-game skid in Thursday’s home finale.

The Warriors are coming off a 20-0 loss to visiting North Marion, which has held opponents to just 9.7 points per contest in OWC play.

Cascade, a 4A state semifinalist in 2016, sits atop the league standings with North Marion (3-3, 3-0).

Friday

Santiam Christian at Taft (Lincoln City)

Records: Santiam Christian 4-2, 2-1 3A West Valley League; Taft 1-5, 0-3 WVL

Following a 47-0 loss at Cascade Christian in Medford, Santiam Christian returns to WVL play Friday night at Taft.

The Tigers have been outscored 214-71 during their four-game losing streak.

SC grinded out a 12-7 home victory in last year’s meeting.

Monroe at Lost River (Merrill)

Records: Monroe 4-1, 2-0 2A Mountain View Conference; Lost River 2-4, 1-1 MVC

Monroe can clinch the outright MVC title with a victory.

In late September, the Dragons routed Lost River 46-7 at home to open conference play.

The Raiders have won back-to-back games since the Monroe loss.
