EUGENE — Corvallis High's season came to an end with a 72-62 5A play-in loss at Churchill.
CHS coach Ross Duerfeldt said the Spartans were close throughout but could not put together a push to get them over the top.
Duerfeldt said the Spartans cut the lead to four a few times and had it at two for a moment early in the fourth quarter.
"We just weren't able to get over the hump," Duerfeldt said.
"It was like a volleyball match were they'd score and then we'd score and we didn't get the stops that were necessary."
Dyshawn Hobson led CHS with 20 points. Roman Gabriel added 11 and Isaac Gabriel and Jonathan Ely both had 10 points.
The Spartans finished the season at 9-16 overall.
"I think we were a better team that our record represented," Duerfeldt said. "Unfortunately the ball didn't bounce our way a couple times and that's the nature of athletics."
