BEND — After battling to tie the game late in regulation, the Crescent Valley High boys soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to Bend in the OSAA 5A playoffs on Wednesday afternoon.
Down 1-0 most of the game, the Raiders were able to force OT when John Sarna broke free on a long kick downfield.
Bend goalkeeper Joel Witts came out to try and make the stop, but Sarna punched it past him to level the match in the 79th minute.
It took Bend just 45 seconds into overtime to hit the game-winner as Parker Hollenbeck collected a loose ball and smashed a turnaround shot for the goal.
The Raiders still had 19 minutes to get the equalizers as teams play two 10-minute overtime periods in high school. CV pushed late and had a corner kick, but Witts snared the cross to seal the win.
Bend scored in the fourth minute off a corner kick. Isaac Kocurek-Orr sent the kick into the box and Jesse Selman beat the keeper with his left-footed shot.
Bend, the No. 6 seed, advances to Saturday’s quarterfinals while CV finishes the season 9-5-1.
