TURNER — The Corvallis High girls basketball team fell 46-34 to host Cascade on Thursday in the championship game of the Cascade Invitational. 

It was the final nonleague game of the calendar year for the Spartans (3-6). They conclude nonconference action at Wilsonville on Jan. 3; they open Mid-Willamette Conference play at Dallas on Jan. 9.

Monroe 51, De La Salle North 34

SALEM — The Dragons won their fifth game in a row by defeating De La Salle North at the Salem Academy Tournament. The Dragons (8-1) resume tournament action on Friday.

Days Creek 47, Alsea 24

DAYS CREEK — The Wolverines completed the calendar year with the nonleague loss at Days Creek. Alsea (4-4) opens Mountain West League competition by hosting Triangle Lake on Jan. 2.

Boys basketball

SALEM — Monroe played up a class and fell 71-34 to 3A Umatilla at the Salem Academy Tournament.

Brian Goracke had 17 points and Zach Young nine for the Dragons (5-5). They  fell behind 26-10 in the first quarter and never could catch up.

Monroe resumes tournament action at 1:30 p.m. Friday against a to-be-determined opponent.
