WILSONVILLE — The Crescent Valley High boys basketball team improved to 2-0 on Friday night, defeating Springfield 55-45 in the opening round of the Wilsonville Invitational Tournament.

The Raiders (2-0) move on to today's second round of the championship bracket.

Santiam Christian 69, Pleasant Hill 51

PLEASANT HILL— Santiam Christian opened its season on the right foot as the Eagles defeated Pleasant Hill. 

The Eagles (1-0) host Portland Adventist Academy on Tuesday. 

Monroe 55, Santiam 45

MILL CITY— After a season-opening loss to Harrisburg, Monroe bounced back in a big way with a win over Santiam. 

The Dragons (1-1) take on Regis on Tuesday.

Girls basketball

CROW — Alsea topped the Delphian School junior varsity 46-6 in the opening round of the Cougar Classic at Crow High School. The Wolverines (1-0) play host Crow on Saturday in the championship. Alsea opens Mountain West League action at McKenzie on Dec. 8.

Crescent Valley 88, Aloha 51

PORTLAND — The Raiders ran past Aloha for the nonconference win at the David Douglas tournament. CV (1-0) takes on Roosevelt on Saturday in the tournament.

McMinnville 50, Corvallis 45

McMINNVILLE — The Spartans fell short against class 6A McMinnville on Friday evening. It was the season opener for both teams.

Corvallis (0-1) plays at Marist on Tuesday.

Monroe 54, Santiam 23

MILL CITY — The Dragons won their second game in a row by topping Santiam in a nonconference game. Monroe returns to action on Tuesday by hosting Regis at 6 p.m. in its home opener.

Pleasant Hill 55, Santiam Christian 20

PLEASANT HILL — The Eagles dropped to 0-2 with the nonleague loss to the Billies. SC hosts Portland Adventist on Tuesday in its next start.
