DALLAS — Preston Heede had 15 points to lead the Crescent Valley High boys basketball team to a 62-33 win at Dallas.
Tariq Harris added 12 points and AJ Sandvig 10 for CV (6-6, 1-1), which plays at Corvallis on Tuesday.
Santiam Christian 64, Sheridan 42
SHERIDAN — Santiam Christian extended its winning streak to eight games thanks to a convincing win against Sheridan.
The Eagles (13-1, 5-0) host Westside Christian on Tuesday.
Philomath 68, Tillamook 48
TILLAMOOK — Philomath's last nonconference game of the season was farther than a typical road game as the Warriors had to trek up the Oregon coast. However, the long trip didn't deter the Warriors from having a stellar performance.
The Warriors (7-5) start league play at Stayton on Tuesday.
Silverton 66, Corvallis 46
The Spartans dropped their second straight game to open conference play.
Dyshawn Hobson led Corvallis with 15 points and Eugene Davis added 11.
The Foxes got 21 points from David Gonzalez and 17 from Cade Roth.
Corvallis (4-8, 0-2) hosts Crescent Valley on Tuesday.
Monroe 75, Lost River 52
MONROE — Monroe's offense exploded as the Dragons cruised to an easy victory over Lost River.
The Dragons (10-4, 3-0) host Bananza on Saturday.
A slow start hurt Corvallis in a 49-43 home conference loss to Silverton.
Silverton jumped out to an early lead and held its cushion throughout.
Spartans coach Dan Miller said it was a good measuring-stick game against one of the better 5A teams in the state.
“It shows that we still have some work to do, and that’s good because we have a lot of season left.”
Krysta Wilson had 13 points to lead Corvallis (4-8, 1-1), which hosts Crescent Valley on Tuesday.
Philomath 56, Tillamook 34
TILLAMOOK — The Warriors turned up the defensive pressure in the second half to get a win in their final tune-up for Oregon West Conference play.
Philomath coach Dave Garvin said Bree Couture was solid in relief of post Haidyn Ecker when Ecker got in foul trouble and that the team played better defense after halftime, particularly on Tillamook’s point guard.
Ecker had 15 points and Emma Pankalla 12 for the Warriors (9-4), who open their conference schedule Tuesday at Stayton.
Santiam Christian 43, Sheridan 40
SHERIDAN — The Eagles squeezed out the narrow West Valley League road win.
SC (4-8, 3-1) hosts Westside Christian on Tuesday.
Monroe 54, Lost River 30
MONROE — The Dragons went on a big run in the second quarter to pull away for the Mountain View Conference win.
Monroe (11-2, 3-0) outscored Lost River 25-7 in the second.
"It was the defense that started shutting down and then we just made shots," Monroe coach Tony Parker said. "We made four 3s and then the lane opened up."
Parker said Peyton Greene had six of her eight points going down the lane in the quarter.
Kyndal Martin had 15 points to lead Monroe. The Dragons host Bonanza on Saturday.
LEBANON — Crescent Valley split a pair of duals at the Laura Gillot Keller Williams Tournament.
The Raiders defeated Stayton (51-18) and Sunset (51-27) while falling to Junction City (42-39) and host Lebanon (44-33).
Chance Lamer (106 pounds), Owen Cserep (113), Hunter Eveland (120/126), Drew Roberts (120/126), Legend Lamer (138/145) and Brandon Lareau (285) were all unbeaten on the day. Roberts and Legend Lamer finished with four pins apiece while Lareau and Chance Lamer had three wins by fall.
Dragons split duals
REDMOND — Behind Louden Ballard, Monroe went 1-1 in pool-play duals Friday at the Oregon Classic.
Ballard, competing at 126 and 132, was 2-0 with two pins.
Santiam Christian was 2-2. Austin Bradford (113), Logan Beem (120) and Luke Janssen (138) got pins in both team wins.
Philomath lost all four of its duals. James Howell (160) had two pins, while Hunter McCaskill (120) and Jared Minter (195) each had a pin.
