PHILOMATH — The Philomath High boys basketball team topped Sutherlin 57-44 on Tuesday in a nonconference game at PHS, evening their record at 3-3.

The Warriors take on Mountain View at the Elmira Tournament on Thursday in their next start.

Girls basketball

Visiting 6A Canby topped Corvallis 45-38 in a nonleague game at Spartan Gym, handing the Spartans their third consecutive setback.

Krysta Wilson had 13 points and Ellie Harding 10 for the Spartans. Canby led 16-13 at halftime and pulled away by outscoring CHS 17-11 in the third quarter.

The Spartans (1-5) resume nonleague play at 7 p.m. Thursday when they host Rex Putnam at CHS.

Alsea 34, Camas Valley 11

BANDON — The Wolverines topped Camas Valley in the opening round of the Bandon Dunes Invitational. Alsea (3-2) resumes tournament play on Wednesday against a to-be-determined opponent.
