PORTLAND — The Crescent Valley High girls basketball team defeated Franklin 57-45 on Friday in a nonconference game at FHS.

Cali McClave had 20 points and five rebounds to lead the Raiders (5-1), who bounced back impressively from a loss to Churchill in their previous game. Gwen Gray added 13 points and nine rebounds and Peyton Dale had 11 points for CV.

The Raiders play at Thurston on Thursday. It will be their fifth road game in seven outings.

Dayton 40, Philomath 28

DAYTON — The Warriors fell to the Pirates at the Dayton Tournament. They play Kennedy at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the consolation round.

Emma Pankalla had eight points and Mia Rust scored five points to lead the Warriors (3-3).

Boys basketball

DAYTON — Santiam Christian  defeated Salem Academy 72-61 in the Dayton Tournament on Friday night.

The Eagles were led by Zach Baugher with 24 points. Grant Carly added 17 points and Josh Baugher had 15.

Salem Academy was paced by Benett Bos with 22 points. Hayden Wakefield chipped in 14 points and Luke Miller 12.

The Eagles will take on Kennedy at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the tourney.

Coquille 58, Philomath 55

COOS BAY — The Warriors dropped a tough one to Coquille in the opening round of the South Coast Holiday Tournament at Marshfield High. Philomath (1-3) plays in the consolation round on Saturday against a to-be-determined opponent.


INDEPENDENCE — Santiam Christian finished fifth in the six-team Central Invitational.

The Eagles wound up with 47 points.

Top-seed Luke Janssen was defeated by Jefferson's Conner Fairchild.
