DAYTON — Santiam Christian dropped its first boys basketball game of the season with a tough 48-47 overtime loss to Kennedy on Saturday at the Dayton Tournament.
SC had won five straight to start the season.
Kennedy won it with two free throws with 1 second to go. A 3-point try fell short and was rebounded by Kennedy, and the Eagles committed the foul.
The Eagles (5-1) will play Phoenix in the Southern Oregon Subaru Christmas Classic on Thursday at Cascade Christian High in Medford.
North Medford 69, West Albany 33
EUGENE — West Albany fell behind early and could not recover in the loss at the Shamrock Slam at Sheldon High.
The Bulldogs (2-4) trailed 24-13 after the first quarter.
"They jumped on us pretty quick," WAHS coach Derek Duman said. "They got on us early and kept it on us."
North Medford pulled away after halftime.
"It kind of got out of hand in the second half," Duman said.
West Albany plays at Summit on Tuesday.
Philomath 60, Junction City 59
COOS BAY — Philomath came through at the end to take the win in the Les Schwab South Coast Holiday Tournament at Marshfield High.
The Warriors (2-3) will host Sutherlin on Tuesday.
Scio 58, Gervais 46
AMITY — Scio rolled to the win at the Amity Warrior Classic.
It was the second victory of the season for the Loggers (2-5), who had dropped five straight after starting 1-0.
Scio plays at Bandon on Tuesday.
E. Linn Christian 61, Lost River 47
LOST RIVER — The Eagles pulled away for the nonconference road win.
ELCA (4-4) has won four of its last five games.
The Eagles host Creswell on Tuesday.
DAYTON — Philomath High was defeated by Kennedy 60-54 in the nonconference game at the Dayton Tournament.
The Warriors (3-4) play at Cottage Grove on Wednesday.
Lost River 41, E. Linn Christian 20
LOST RIVER — East Linn Christian fell in a nonconference game at Lost River.
It was the third straight loss for ELCA (3-5). The Eagles will take on Creswell at home on Tuesday.
Umatilla 43, Scio 36
AMITY — Scio dropped the game at the Amity Warrior Classic.
The Loggers (1-6) now head to the Stayton Holiday Tournament beginning Dec. 27 and take on Stayton.
STAYTON — Jefferson High won two dual meets and lost one at a four-way meet at Stayton High.
The Lions defeated Stayton 36-30 and Newport 54-12 before falling 45-27 to Willamina.
"These were our first dual meets, so we are 2-1 to start the year," Jefferson coach David Howell said. "We wrestled well for a second day in a row of making weight."
Jefferson travels to Junction City on Dec. 28.
