MOLALLA — Philomath’s season ended Wednesday with a 4-1 loss to Molalla in the OSAA 4A boys soccer round of 16.
Derek Stucki scored off a free kick in the 33rd minute to cut the Warriors’ deficit to 2-1.
But the host Indians added two second-half goals to claim the victory and advance to the quarterfinals.
Philomath (9-7) started the game without four players due to injury and lost two more during the game.
The Warriors had chances after falling behind 2-0, but besides Stucki’s goal couldn’t find the back of the net under muddy conditions.
“I felt like we played well,” Philomath coach Anton Grube said, crediting center midfielder Zach St. Clair and forward Trevor Sartnurak for their play.
The Warriors lost a large class to graduation last spring but were able to get back to the playoffs, including a 3-1 home win against Marshfield last Saturday.
