BEAVERTON — Philomath High lost 8-0 saturday at Valley Catholic in a 4A girls soccer quarterfinal.

Valley Catholic’s Sarah Connelly had two goals and four assist.

“We just had not run into a team all year that was that athletic and that skilled soccer-wise,” Warriors coach John Williams said.

Philomath played to win, which spread the defense out and led to several Valiant goals, Williams added.

The eight goals matched the total the Warriors (11-5) had allowed all season in their previous 15 matches.

It was the first match Philomath lost on the field this fall. The Warriors had to forfeit their first four wins on the season due to an ineligible player.

Valley Catholic will play Gladstone in a Tuesday semifinal.
