PHILOMATH — The Philomath High swimming team will host the Clemens Invitational on Saturday with the meet set to start at 10:30 a.m.
"It's going to be fun because we'll get to apply all of the training we've done for winter training," PHS swim coach Marissa Eng said. "We've got some really nice teams coming so it will be a good competition."
Ten schools ranging in size from 5A to 2A are slated to compete in the Clemens meet. Joining PHS will be South Albany, Central, Sweet Home, Junction City, Marist, Newport, Salem Academy, Blanchet Catholic and Stayton.
"I have about 40 kids in the program with a little bit more on the boys team," Eng said. "The boys are pretty strong; the girls are fairly young but looking good."
The most familiar names on the roster include Patrick Williamson and Clay Youker for the boys and Kendra Sheeder for the girls.
Williamson, now a senior, broke schools records in the 100-yard breaststroke and the 100 freestyle at last season's 4A state meet at Gresham. Williamson ended up placing second in the 100 freestyle and fifth in the 100 breaststroke.
Sheeder placed fourth at state last year in the 50 freestyle.
