The preliminaries of the Mid-Willamette Conference swimming district meet were held on Thursday at Osborn Aquatic Center.
The meet continues on Saturday.
The showdown between Corvallis High's Trevor Gourley and Lebanon's Casey McEuen is set, with McEuen winning the 50 freestyle prelim and Gourley coming in second and Gourley winning the 100 butterfly with McEuen finishing second.
Corvallis High freshman Noah Vial took first in the 200 freestyle in one minute, 52.37 seconds, followed by teammate Karl Weiler (1:55.47). Vial also won the 500 freestyle.
Crescent Valley freshman Lindsey Soule' won the 500 freestyle by a large margin, coming in with a 513.76, 18 seconds faster than second place. Soule' won the 100 backstroke, with teammate Jenny Pinard second.
Kayla Ashland of CHS was first in the 200 IM in 2:23.83 and teammate Kaarina Nyman was second.
Both Corvallis and Crescent Valley had relay teams come in first. The CV girls and boys won the 200 medley relay and the Corvallis girls and boys won the 400 free relay. The CHS boys won the 200 free relay.
