TIGARD — The Corvallis High wrestling team finished in fourth place out of 10 teams on Saturday at a tournament hosted by Tigard.
The Spartans came in with 172 points to edge Forest Grove by two points for fourth place.
Seniors Richard Bylund at 170 pounds and Carlos Hernandez at 195 each battled to runner-up finishes. Bylund moved to 25-4 on the season while Hernandez checks in at 21-6.
Junior James Woods (15-10 record) and sophomore Andrew Iademarco (12-10) each had third-place finishes at 145 and 220, respectively.
CHS coach Ron Sather singled out two other wrestlers for their performances – Junior Nathan Shaw’s fourth place at 132, which included a significant upset along the way, and junior Keliikahi McFadden’s fifth place at 126.
In the case of the latter, McFadden won four of his five matches but only got fifth because of the way the bracketing turned out. McFadden, now 9-3, got the call with regular starter Clayton Lopez hampered by the flu.
CHS will next compete on Thursday at Silverton for a double dual that includes Dallas.
