PULLMAN, Wash. - The Oregon State volleyball team concluded its season on Friday night with a 3-2 loss to Washington State at Bohler Gym.
Set scores were 25-17, 25-23, 25-20, 25-17, 15-11.
OSU finished 3-15 in the Pacific-10 Conference and 12-18 overall, after a 9-3 start in nonconference.
WSU improved to 18-12, 6-12 and will most likely advance to the NCAAs.
Junior Jill Sawatzky had 27 kills and 23 digs and senior Rachel Rourke, OSU's all-time kill leader, had 26 in her final match.
"The match was a perfect example of our season," OSU coach Terry Liskevych said. "What cost us a little bit were some untimely errors, especially serving errors. You can't start the fifth set by starting and ending the fifth set by missing a serve.
"The one skill that was very good tonight was consistent passing. I have to give a lot of credit to Jill (Sawatzky), which is great for her for the next season. Rachel (Rourke) started out rough but got on track again, and that's what's going to happen in a match.
"You have to steady that out a bit. This program is really built on the back of these seniors, and now we just have to take another step forward."
